# MCP tools

These are the tools of the Muvia MCP server at `https://api.muviabi.com/mcp/v1`. An agent gets the same list by sending
`tools/list` to the server, filtered to what its key or connection may use;
see [MCP server](/guides/mcp-server) for the endpoint and authentication, and
the [Agent quickstart](/guides/agent-quickstart) for a complete exchange.

Today: 223 tools: 108 read and 115 write (96 proposal, 9 confirmed in Muvia, 10 not for API keys).

A tool **reads** or **writes**. A write does not change Muvia on the spot: it
files a proposal, which a person approves in Muvia or the company's policy
applies (see [Writes](/guides/mcp-server#writes)). A key writes only when an
administrator has turned on «Can write through assistants» on it (see
[Writes by a key](/guides/mcp-server#writes-by-a-key)). Each write tool
names its write mode:

- Proposal: a person approves it in Muvia, unless an administrator lets that kind run at once.
- From an API key, always a proposal a person confirms in Muvia. For a person's own connection, an administrator may let it run at once.
- Not available to API keys: it acts as a person (their own notes, public links).

A tool lists the scopes a connection needs: all of them, or one of them where
they are joined by «or». A tool with no scope is open to any connection.
